Your own products
1Why this section is short
Because it's yours, and the specifics depend entirely on what you'd be selling.
A guide that told you what product to make would be guessing. What this section can honestly do is name what you now have that makes this path available, name the trap that swallows most people who take it, and stop.
2What the last six modules actually gave you
You learned this to make content for brands. The same system markets anything, and that's not a stretch — it's the same job with the client seat empty:
| You have | Which works for your own thing too |
|---|---|
| A way to define a voice and hold it (Module 3) | Fill in a BV-01 for your own brand. Same form, you're the client |
| Four script formats (Module 2) | Demo your thing, testimonial for it, problem–solution about it |
| A generation and checking pipeline (Module 2 skills) | Same, pointed at your own product |
| A proof habit (Module 4) | And now the results proof is yours, which is the one place that changes |
| A portfolio and a way to host it free (Module 5.5) | A sales page is a portfolio with a price on it |
One genuine asymmetry is worth noticing. Module 4 §1 spent a long time on the fact that proof-of-result belongs to your client and not to you. Sell your own thing and that flips — the numbers are yours, you can verify them, and you're allowed to show them. That is a real advantage of this path and close to the only one that's structural rather than circumstantial.
3What people actually sell
Deliberately not a list of recommendations. A rough map of what's out there:
- A service that isn't content. Consulting on someone's content operation, running a brand's account, training an in-house team. Often the shortest distance from what you already do.
- A physical product, usually in the niche you've been making content in. You've spent months learning what's wrong with everything in a category — that's product research nobody paid you for.
- Something informational. A guide, a course, a template pack. See the trap below before you pick this one.
- Software or tools, if that's a thing you can do.
4The trap, named plainly
There is a well-worn path where someone learns a skill, doesn't practise it much, and immediately sells a course about the skill. Then their students do the same. Nothing is made. The only product anyone ships is the teaching.
This is the failure mode of path 2 and it's worth being blunt about it, not least because this guide is itself an informational product and you should apply the test to us as readily as to yourself.
The test is simple, and it's Module 4's standard turned inward:
Have you done the thing enough that you'd survive someone checking?
If you've delivered fifteen brand deals and want to teach that, you have something. If you finished this guide last month and want to teach it, you have enthusiasm and no receipts, and the market for that is already saturated with people in exactly the same position.
The honest sequence is do it, then teach it — in that order, with a gap. Path 1 is not a stepping stone you rush through on the way to path 2. It's the thing that makes path 2 legitimate.
5If you do take this path
Three things carry over, and they're the same three that made path 1 work:
Scope it before you price it. Module 0A's six questions were about a client's brief; the same discipline applies to your own thing. What is it, who is it for, what does it not do.
Write the guardrails down. A BV-01 for yourself is odd but useful — the never sound like answers are the ones that stop your own marketing drifting into the register you'd never accept from a client.
Keep the proof habit. Now that results proof is genuinely yours, the temptation to overstate it is bigger, not smaller. Everything in Module 4 about honest provenance applies harder when nobody else is checking.
6And the honest summary
Most readers of this guide should not be on path 2 yet, and a guide that told you otherwise would be selling you the trap it just described.
Path 1 pays now, teaches you the trade, and generates the receipts that make path 2 defensible later. This section exists so you know the door's there, not to push you through it.
