Build Your Portfolio
Six questions in. A finished website out.
You answer five things about your work. A Skill writes a complete website — one file, no accounts, no builder to learn, nothing to pay for. Then you put it online for free, in about four minutes, with instructions written for someone who has never done it.
There is no code in your half of this.
1Why this is a half-module, and why it's here
Module 5 taught you what a Skill is and how to build one. This is the payoff: somebody else's Skill, doing a job you'd otherwise postpone.
Read skill/portfolio-builder/SKILL.md before you use it. Not because you need
to — it works either way — but because you can now read it. It's a folder with a
text file in it, and every structural move in it is one Module 5 §3 named: an
opening that says why it exists, one bolded rule, a source-of-truth table with a
never trust column, an explicit what NOT to do, and a closing checklist.
The portfolio builder is not magic. It's an example. That's the actual lesson of this module, and the site is the by-product.
2What's in here
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| 1 | The Skill: the five questions, what it writes, and how to read what it did |
| 2 | Putting it online, free — three hosts, written for someone who's never deployed |
| 3 | The Canva route, if you'd rather not touch a file at all |
Plus skill/portfolio-builder/SKILL.md — the Skill itself, yours to read and
edit.
3Why a portfolio stops people
Not because it's hard. Because it sits at the junction of two jobs you didn't sign up for — visual design and putting a file on the internet — and either one alone is enough to postpone it indefinitely.
So creators end up with real work and nowhere to send a brand. This module removes both jobs. You are not being asked to pick colours, fonts or a layout; that's the Skill's job, and it makes those choices from your niche. You're being asked what you make and who for.
4What you'll need
- Your five answers. Name, niche, one line about what you do, three pieces, and your brand voice in three words.
- Three pieces you can link to. Drafts are fine. Spec work is fine — label it, per Module 4 §3. If you have two, the site has two.
- About twenty minutes, including getting it online.
5It's included, and there's nothing to buy here
The portfolio builder is bundled into every tier at no extra cost. It is not a paid add-on, there are no locked templates, no watermark on the output, no export fee, and no limit on how many times you rebuild it.
You bought the guide once and this came with it. There is no upgrade prompt in this module because there is nothing to upgrade to.
6One line to take out of this module
The file is yours. Edit it, move it, host it anywhere, delete it. It has no dependencies, phones nothing home, and will still open in ten years.
