Demo run 03 — Unboxing
What this run demonstrates: a clean generation, and a mild negative correctly escalated to the approval owner rather than either removed or shipped quietly.
Step 1 — Intake read, format checked
This format was nearly refused. SKILL.md states that a first encounter can
only be written from a genuine first encounter, and the creator has had the pan
four weeks — which normally makes unboxing unavailable rather than adaptable.
It is available here only because experience.md carries a Day 0 block, with
notes taken at the time. Without that block the correct output of this run
would have been a refusal, not a script.
Worth stating plainly for readers: the habit of writing five lines down when the box arrives is what keeps this format open to you weeks later. Nobody reconstructs a first impression accurately, and reconstructing one is inventing one.
Step 2 — The brief, as filled
Write a 30-second unboxing script in 5 beats.
WHAT ARRIVED
Sable 24cm skillet — a mid-price steel pan sold direct.
Packaging: matte grey card, no plastic
How it opens: magnetic flap closure
WHAT I ACTUALLY NOTICED — first encounter only, no accumulated opinion
Sound: card sliding, then one soft magnetic snap
First sight: pan face down, wrapped in grey tissue
First touch: colder than I expected; also heavier than I expected
Surprise: no instructions in the box at all; no branding anywhere on the pan
AUDIENCE
A renter in their late twenties who cooks four nights a week in a kitchen they
can't renovate, already owns one pan they resent.
BRAND VOICE
Never say: game-changer, obsessed, literally, honestly, elevate, foodie,
girl math
Barred claims: non-stick forever; dishwasher safe (contract requires hand wash
only in all creative); clinically proven / lab tested; any
comparison naming a competitor product
CONSTRAINTS
- Beat 2 has no narration at all — mark it [sound only]
- Maximum 8 words of narration in any other beat
- No verdict, no recommendation, no rating — this is a first encounter
- Present tense throughout
- One sensory word per beat maximum; do not stack them
- If SURPRISE is not "none", it must appear — including if it is negative
Return as: BEAT n — [narration or "sound only"] / [what's on screen]. Nothing else.Step 3 — Output, as generated
BEAT 1 — "This came this morning." / grey box on the counter, hands enter frame BEAT 2 — [sound only] / card sliding, one magnetic snap, flap open BEAT 3 — "Face down. Wrapped in tissue." / first sight of the pan BEAT 4 — "Colder than I expected." / lifted with one hand, hand drops slightly BEAT 5 — "No instructions. Nothing on the pan either." / hand searches the empty box
No rewrites needed. This was the first pass.
Two things the constraints did visibly:
- Beat 4 uses one sensory word. The experience file offered two — colder and heavier. The one-sensory-word-per-beat rule forced a choice, and colder is the more surprising of the two for a steel pan. Heavier survives into the testimonial's verdict beat instead, which is where a weight complaint belongs.
- Beat 5 is the surprise, and it is negative. The
must appearclause is doing the work; without it this is the first line a generic script drops, because it is the only line that isn't flattering.
Step 4 — claim-guard
BLOCKED — none.
UNSUPPORTED — none. All five beats trace to the Day 0 block:
| Beat | Traces to |
|---|---|
| 1 | Box: matte grey card |
| 2 | card sliding, then one soft magnetic snap |
| 3 | pan face down, wrapped in grey tissue |
| 4 | colder than I expected |
| 5 | no instructions in the box at all; no branding anywhere on the pan |
FLAGGED — 2.
- Beat 5 is a criticism of the client's packaging. It is not on the barred
list, so it is not BLOCKED — but per
claim-guard→ don't assume a rule that isn't written down, the absence of a rule is not permission. BV-4 names Priya Raman as approval owner. Escalate, don't decide. Sable's own BV-1 says the brand "would rather say we don't know yet than fill the silence" and "will happily tell you a competitor's pan is fine", which suggests they will accept it — but that is an inference about a brand, not a clearance from one. - Disclosure confirmation date, carried forward from Run 01.
Step 5 — Final script, as shipped
DISCLOSURE — "Gifted by Sable." / title card + spoken, 0:00–0:02 BEAT 1 — "This came this morning." / grey box on the counter, hands enter frame BEAT 2 — [sound only] / card sliding, one magnetic snap, flap open BEAT 3 — "Face down. Wrapped in tissue." / first sight of the pan BEAT 4 — "Colder than I expected." / lifted with one hand, hand drops slightly BEAT 5 — "No instructions. Nothing on the pan either." / hand searches the empty box
One human change to the disclosure wording. BV-4's recorded requirement says paid partnership. This piece is a gifted-product unboxing, not a paid post, and the two are different disclosures in most markets. The creator asked rather than guessing. Sent to Priya with the beat 5 escalation.
That question — is this the right disclosure, or just the one on file? — is one the skill raised and could not answer. It shouldn't.
